Scandinavian Bedroom Refresh: Spring Edition
We’ve trawled the length and breadth of Nordic media to find the biggest spring trends to inspire your bedroom revamp. Give your bedroom a fresh start this spring with Scandinavian-inspired design, featuring graceful, curved lines, nature-inspired colors, natural textures, and beautiful, soft linen bedding.
Brown is the New Beige
Good news for nature lovers: designers are drawing inspiration from the earth, incorporating warm browns and soft, new-leaf greens into interior design. These sit in the background, while plum reds, honey yellows and “energetic” oranges (think: spring tulips) are used as accents.
In our blog post on Scandinavian color palettes, we showed you how to use the 60:30:10 rule to create a balanced appearance. These new spring trends provide a ready-made palette for you:
- 60% browns. Keep the walls mid-to-light brown to keep the room from looking too gloomy: think more latte than espresso. You can use darker browns elsewhere, such as on the bed frame or closet. Remember that wood is also a color!
- 30% greens. Stick with natural, slightly yellow-tinted greens rather than emerald or blue-greens. These can be used on bedding (check out our Grøn, Skov, or Agern European linen bedding sets) as well as on curtains and rugs. If you have space for a chair or bench, it can be either brown or green depending on what you think you need more of.
- 10% accent colors. Since plum red, orange, and honey yellow are analogous (next to each other on the color wheel), you can use all three in your “accent” bracket without throwing off the look. A pair of retro accent lamps (more on the retro trend below) will really liven up the room. You can also use these warm colors on wall art or cushions.
Additionally, you can use photos or illustrations of natural scenes to guide you. If it makes you think of a forest in spring, you’re on the right track.
“Romantic” Textures
Whether you’re single or coupled-up, tactile texture adds a little romance to everyday life. Embroidery, in particular, is big for 2026, adding an extra sensory dimension compared with conventional prints. Fine Little Day, a Gothenburg-based brand, sells simple and beautiful embroidered cushion covers inspired by Swedish nature and everyday life. You can even buy embroidered fabric by the meter, for curtains or DIY projects. Frills and lace are also in vogue: pick up some lace trim and stitch or glue it onto your curtains or lampshades to add impact and style.

Woven natural textures such as jute, wool, rattan, and linen are perennially popular in Scandinavian design but they’re really coming into focus this year, with plenty of options appearing in stores. If your bedroom has a ceiling light, consider a timeless rattan shade; from both an aesthetic and price point of view, you can’t go wrong with a jute rug.
Personally, we can’t think of a more romantic texture than soft linen bedding. Its natural property of thermoregulation keeps you warm when it’s cool and cool when it’s warm, meaning you’ll wake refreshed and revitalized in the morning. Our printed Scandinavian-style bedding sets, such as Horblømst and Blålig, evoke the lush Danish countryside; when paired with the tactile texture of linen, they take on a three-dimensional quality.
Curved Lines
According to the blogs, this trend has caught fire across the entire Nordic region. Driven by a desire to switch off and disconnect from the digital world, modular and tube-shaped furniture that “hugs” the user is becoming increasingly popular. Examples given in Nordic Nest’s 2026 trends piece include the Bukowski Lounge Chair and the HEM Boa pouf, which catches eyes with its donut shape.
If you lack space for a chair or ottoman in your bedroom, you might not be able to follow this trend exactly, but there are still ways in which you can create the visual “softness” of curved lines. There are many modern decor items such as nightstand lamps, vases, candle holders, and planters that now incorporate whimsical curved, sculptural forms. Some of our printed sets, such as the frilly green oak leaves of Agern, also evoke this trend.

And of course, you can create the feeling of warmth and comfort in other ways. Check out our blog post on lighting to see how you can use color temperature, “pools” of light, and different lampshade styles to realize your own bedroom “hyggekrog.”
Your duvet or comforter matters, too, especially during a season when weather can vary between warm and cool. It should have an effective fill (either down, feathers, or a vegan alternative) that will be warm enough for chilly days but also breathable enough that you’ll naturally cool down when temperatures rise.
Retro Nostalgia
Perhaps also driven by the desire for a simpler time (as well as the need to live more sustainably), vintage and retro are big in 2026. Elle Sweden cites “the soft shapes, warm wood panels, cozy furniture and velvet materials of the 70s”, as well as checkerboard patterns. Another style that continues to be popular in 2026 is Art Deco, with some sources even suggesting mixing Art Deco elegance with the 70s’ graphic boldness.
There are many beautiful new pieces by Scandinavian designers following this trend but we think this is also a great time to go thrifting. With the other spring trends (curved lines, nature-inspired colors) in mind, you can have fun hunting for the perfect retro piece to round out your room.
We’re proud to say we predicted this trend long ago, when we designed our new Skov set. Named after the Danish word for “forest”, the abstract design is inspired by the way light filters through trees, and draws on the stylized Nordic plant prints of the 1960s: think Marimekko, Sven Fristedt, and Josef Frank. If you’re working on a spring bedroom refresh, you can’t get much better than that.
